Researching and Writing - A Panel Discussion

Discuss the crucial role of research in crafting impactful fiction and nonfiction narratives. In this panel discussion, three local authors will explore the unique challenges involved in presenting complex historical events while also creating a compelling narrative. In fiction, where does the author feel it's reasonable to bend the truth? In non-fiction, how does an author craft an interesting storyline instead of 'info dumping' or narrating a timeline of events? Bring your own questions for our panel!

Following the discussion, there will be the opportunity to purchase books from the authors.
 

About the Presenters:

Lynda Drews is the of author fiction and non-fiction. The Maid and the Socialite is a shocking historical true crime story of two women from opposite social spheres who stood up to their powerful abuser. Run at Destruction explores the true-life love triangle between three teachers and runners in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the eventual first-degree murder trial. Lynda's Door County, Wisconsin mystery novel, Circle of Innocence is set in Door County where a monster is lurking. Desperate Parallels was inspired by Lynda's IBM global executive career. When Lynda's not writing, she teaches classes for "Write On Door County," reads, runs, knits, plays bridge, and drinks coffee.

Marggie Moertl is the author of two non-fiction. Marggie shares the very personal story of her mother's illness and death in Sally. This memoir demonstrates Marggie’s daily use of meditative journaling to help her to deal with this deeply emotional journey. In Life as a Prayer, Marggie explores her spiritual transformation during her many years as a hospice nurse. When Marggie's not writing she is a hospice nurse and Life Doula. She enjoys leisure time is spent exploring the natural beauty of SW Wisconsin and incorporating that into her fiber art creations.

Peggy Joque Williams is the author of fiction and non-fiction. Courting the Sun, is set in 17th century France where 16-year-old  Sylvienne is invited to attend the court of King Louis XIV, unaware of her mother’s secret past with the monarch and wholly unprepared for life at Versailles. In her mystery novels, On the Road to Death's Door and On the Road to Where the Bell Tolls, Emily and Stan Remington drive their RV around the US and stumble onto murder investigations. Peggy Joque Williams works as an elementary school teacher and freelance writing. Her non-fiction articles have been featured in both print and online media.
